The WiSA SoundSend transmitter has 2 options for connecting to audio:
- HDMI ARC/eARC port input
- Optical port input
Generally, HDMI ARC/eARC is not available on PC HDMI Audio output and is relegated to the TV/AVR industry. ARC/eARC uses a different processing method than standard HDMI Audio, and therefore will not communicate with the SoundSend.
If you have a graphics card or computer that offers HDMI Audio out, this does not turn the HDMI port into ARC/eARC, but rather, will send audio as well as video to another display device instead of just video. From there you could leverage the passthrough capabilities of your display device and connect the SoundSend to the ARC/eARC port if your display device has that capability.
There are ways around this however with additional equipment like an HDMI Audio ARC extractor that can split video and audio into 2 different HDMI streams and can generate an ARC/eARC signal. A product like the HD Fury Arcana is an adapter that does just that and has been tested to be a viable option.
Another option is using your computer’s Optical audio output port. If your computer does not have one, there are internal audio cards that you could install on your computer or even external USB audio cards that have optical output.
